How Many Pearls - You've just stumbled on a treasure chest filled with pearls and you want a quick estimate of the number, without having to count them one by one.Area Explorer - Students are shown shapes on a grid after setting the perimeter and asked to calculate areas of the shapes.
Perimeter Explorer - Students are shown shapes on a grid after setting the area and asked to calculate perimeters of the shapes.
Shape Explorer - Students are shown shapes on a grid and asked to calculate areas and perimeters of the shapes.
Estimator - Practice estimation skills by determining the number of objects, length, or area. (parameters: error tolerance)
Comparison Estimator - Similar to Estimator but compares two sets of objects.
More or Less Estimator - Similar to Estimator activity but states a quantity and asks the user to estimate whether the set of objects is more or less than the number given.

Classification of Living Things Web Quest

Today and tomorrow, you will visit the website Classification Challenge to complete a living things web quest. Your directions on your handout vary a little from the directions on the site SO BE SURE YOU READ CAREFULLY AND DO WHAT I AM REQUIRING! You will travel through the site as a biologist.

Your task is to assist Professor Plananimingi with your team of biologists in training (the members of your station.) Each member will specialize in different areas. You will have to research and classify 6 different living things and then you will use the characteristics of each group to create you own imaginary living thing. (See your handouts for step by step directions.) REMEMBER! READ CAREFULLY AND WORK COOPERATIVELY. If you and your fellow biologist cannot work harmoniously, you will be given an alternative assignment! Good Luck!

You are going to view the following videos on BrainPOP:

After you finish the video INDIVIDUALLY take the quiz and print your results. Make sure that you put your NAME on your quizzes. Hold on to all quizzes until you have completed each one of them, then you will staple them in the order above and place the packet in the Science basket for your class. DO YOUR BEST!

When everyone at your station has completed all of the quizzes you may, as a group, agree on a video to watch for fun. Do not print the results for the one video you view for fun.

Let's Create A Graph!

Using the data we collected from the hall, we are going to create some graphs to show what is the favorite activity for SCES Field Day for each 5th grade homeroom! You will work with your station on a particular 5th grade homeroom to show the data for that class. We will tally our data, create a paper copy of our graph, and then use the computer to create a nice, neat graph! Please listen carefully and follow all directions!
